Photojournalism. My first experience with photography began while I was enlisted in the US Army in 1967-1969. For advanced training, I was sent to Ft. Campbell, KY, to learn how to be a combat photographer. As fate would have it, I never saw combat. Instead, I worked as a photojournalist, learning the craft of photography from some of the best photojournalists around who honed their skills in the crucible of war. This experience in the military stimulated my lifelong interest in photography. Over the past 40 years, I have moved in a creative arc from the realistic photos of photojournalism to the impressionistic photos of fine art photography. College Instructor. After the army, I pursued a career in higher education. For 25 years, I earned my living as a college instructor at five different colleges in the states of Washington, Nevada, and New Mexico. This collegiate vocation enabled me to travel throughout the American Southwest and to gather an extensive collection of thousands of photos. Southwest Photos. In 2005, I opened a small business called Southwest Photos. In addition to the Internet, I also sell my photos at the following location: Albuquerque Photographers Gallery Old Town, Albuquerque 328-C San Felipe St NW, Albuquerque, NM (505) 244-9195 My photos are available in standard sizes up to 20" x 30." They are meticulously printed, matted, and framed to the highest archival standards. Equipment. I enjoy both the technical and the creative sides of photography which engage my left and right hemispheres. As far as equipment, I shoot with both a Nikon 90s SLR film camera and a Canon 20D SLR digital camera. After shooting, I like working with Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 as a creative way to edit and enhance my photos. I print my photos using a professional printer, the Epson Stylus R1800 color printer. Greetings. I am a freelance photographer living in Albuquerque, NM, who specializes in outdoor photography. I enjoy hiking and traveling throughout New Mexico and the American Southwest. My favorite photographic subjects include the land and its people, along with their cultural arts and traditions. I especially enjoy the rich multicultural heritage of New Mexico, which is a tapestry of Indian, Mexican, and European influences.
